Breast augmentation

Breast augmentation is done to increase the size and improve the shape of the breasts. Breast augmentation is desired by women who wish to enhance their breasts because they are too small, or by women who have lost breast volume and shape after pregnancy and breast feeding. It is one of the commonest cosmetic surgery procedures, with high levels of safety and also high levels of patient satisfaction due to the strongly positive impact it has on the patient’s self esteem.

Surgical breast augmentation is performed using breast implants. Implants differ by shape, volume, filler and surface texture.

There are two different shaped implants to choose from: round and anatomical (teardrop-shaped). A round implant makes the breast’s upper pole more filled. The anatomical implant has the shape of a drop and gives the breasts more natural look.

The choice of the proper implant depends on several factors: surgeon preferences, patient needs, size and shape of implant.
